September 23th, 2008 TRANSFERS AND APPOINTMENTS AT SOPEXA
In Asie: Asia Zone Manager Sopexa has created a large “Asia” market zone composed of Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Ready to meet the challenge presented by one of the world’s leading regions, with its great potential, Jean-Charles Crouin became manager of the region on 1 September. Born in 1964, a graduate of the HEC Business School (1985) and Insead Management School (MBA, 1991), Jean-Charles Crouin joined Sopexa in 1998 as Manager of the Japan and Korea Zone – which was at the time distinct from the China Zone - where he proved his sales skills and helped French products, particularly wines, gain prominence in the region. Charles Durand, former Sales Manager of Sopexa Japan, has now been named Japan Office Manager, effective 1 October. He will be assisted by Deputy Manager Sachie KOBAYASHI, who has run this office for 30 years. With a Master’s Degree in Japanese from INALCO, Charles Durand joined Sopexa in 2006 after two previous experiences working in Japan, for CCIF and Hachette Fujingaho.
At the Head Office in Paris: Bertrand Girard, who since 2005 had been manager of Sopexa’s Asean-India Zone – which was later extended to Greater China in 2007 - has been appointed Global Markets Director. Born in 1965 in Cognac, Bertrand Girard was trained in management and international trade in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England and Madrid, Spain, and he holds an MBA from Oxford and a degree in Strategy from the Insead Management School. He has primarily worked in marketing, sales, imports and promotion of agribusiness products (for the likes of Dannon and a number of small wines & spirits firms) both in France and abroad, where he spent 20 years (in Spain, Morocco, England, Hong Kong, China and Singapore). His new mission involves cross-functional leadership of Sopexa’s bicultural, international teams. This drive is a cornerstone of Sopexa’s sales policy, which aims to generate synergy between the group’s headquarters in France and its 35 offices worldwide, in order to constantly provide greater value added to clients.
Within the Markets Division, Emmanuel Gauny has been named Solid Products Manager. Previously in charge of coordinating the meat and agribusiness sectors, he will now also be responsible for sales management of the dairy, fruits and vegetables sectors. Gauny, who holds a degree in Engineering from ENITA in Dijon, has honed his marketing and sales strategy expertise in the agribusiness sector at Sopexa since 2005.
